Okay, it says I’m a Libertarian. Hmm…I do wish for freedom of mind, heart and spirit. And yes, less taxes please for those already paying ridiculously high taxes and medical insurances.

Hey, that’s great! Its nice to have another liberty lover hanging around. I hope I don’t run too many people off with my political rants but I feel so strongly in favor of freedom, it’s hard to hold back sometimes. I really like this quote…
Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.” Barry Goldwater

Bwahahaha I’m in the grey area. The Centrist. Oh Rommel, you’ve always been that way.

Rommel, thanks for taking the quiz anyway. At least now you’ll know more about where the others stand and where you stand among the differing groups. I’ve always been a strong libertarian, just never knew it until I finally found out there was actually a political party who thought along the same lines I did. Live and let live! 🙂

Hey! Thanks for the follow back! I scored Libertarian, siding conservatively on economic views and more liberal on social views. I already knew this, but it’s good that a lil quiz agrees 😛

Good to hear it was accurate in your case. It was for me too. I’ve heard it does a pretty good job of figuring out where people fit politically. I’m trying to help spread the word here. 😉

Thanks for the link, that was enjoyable!

I’m glad you liked it. I thought it was interesting to see a more realistic gauge than just the usual right vs left scale. I’m libertarian so I’m far right on some things and far left on others but for freedom on everything. 🙂

I have never thought of myself as a Left Liberal. Well, there’s that now. 🙂

left liberal huh? before I saw this particular quiz, I never knew what to say, I show up FAR to the left on some issues and FAR to the right on others. I’m a strong libertarian, I pretty much fall back to ‘what’s going to increase personal liberty the most?” and pick that side. I believe everyone should be able to live THEIR lives the way THEY choose to (as long as they don’t hurt anyone else). I think that’s just a better way to organize society rather than try to have ‘authorities’ who really don’t know any better than the rest of us running things.
I’m curious if you’ve read any of my political rants on here and what you thought about them. I have a really good friend (in reality)- a hard core democrat- who got SO mad about them, he stopped following my blog (tho he still jumps in and argues furiously with me on facebook)

I’ve read a few.
I feel very strongly that a person’s opinion should be respected, even when I don’t agree.
As I mentioned on my blog, I grew up in poverty. So where I totally agree with on a political system which maximized personal liberty, I disagree that we have to be 100% responsible for ourselves.
For example, it is not a child’s choice whose family they happen to be born into, what city they live, what era. For me this is a queue that there should be services to guarantee the best chance for future liberty. I would expand that premise outward to encompass other’s. If I remember correctly, those would be points in which we would disagree. And that’s fine. Conflict is one way to understand how we really feel about something.

That was a bit surprising. I may have to go back and take the quiz again!

They say that quiz is really pretty accurate. I know it was for me. I’m a strong libertarian. I’m glad to learn there is a name for people like me (and that I’m not the ONLY ‘weirdo’ who cares about the huge loss of liberty we’ve had in the US in the last few decades).
What do you think? Was it accurate for you? Or way off?

Wow. I am 100% centrist. No wonder I have problems figuring out who to vote for.
LikeLike
LOL!
For me, it’s pretty easy to choose who to vote for. If there is a libertarian on the ballot, I will vote for them. Often, I don’t learn that until I actually get to see the ballot. There is most definitely a concerted effort by the 2 major parties to keep the public from learning about any other options (and there are plenty).
I have been supporting ‘Free the Vote” lately. They’re trying to at least give the other parties a chance of being heard.

So, your web link works too. The web name to the right of your image/gravatar.
(I did lose a lot of traffic because though my gravatar was fine, the web name linked to a deleted user name. That is now fixed.)
Now both your links seem to work. One more thing: the format I see is Worpress. Totally. The hhtp address above is ” “. wordpress.com. There is no mention of the other host. Maybe you should insist with WP support. Nice and easy. Most are good people.
Sorry I can’t help more.
Hope it gets fixed soon.
Take care

thats strange, when I go to my blog, its at captainjillsjourneys.com, my OLD one was at captjillsjourneys.wordpress.com. So, you’re looking at my old one? the one with the black background? thats the one you signed up on? Cause my stats is telling me I only have about 20 followers (since I moved), my OLD blog had around 1500. Sounds like there’s a major mixup somewhere

that’s weird, that’s the old one, I thought that was supposed to automatically move everyone over to the new one at http://www.captainjillsjourneys.com. If you are seeing the old one, I wonder if all my old followers are still seeing that one and that’s why I don’t see them here anymore?

that’s really weird! I checked the old one, it’s BACK! For a while there, once I moved it, there was nothing there on the old one, everything just STOPPED from the time I moved. Now, I notice my facebook is connected again (to BOTH blogs) and so are the comments! My posts are only being posted on the new blog. It looks like people are just randomly seeing my old blog and ‘liking’ it. I wonder if I should post there too now, or how to get this whole thing to work like it was supposed to in the 1st place?! At least now I know that my followers from before didn’t just drop off the face of the earth. 😉

Hmmm. I show up as 100% on fiscal matters but right on the border between conservative and libertarian. Likely because i’m really against legalizing drugs. Petsonally i don’t care if you destroy your own brain but i’ve seen too many kids born from drug addict parents and i’ve seen too many stoned scaffolders nearly kill people becausethey were so out of it they screwed up the job.

glad you enjoyed taking the quiz. I think it’s pretty interesting. It always interests me, the comments people make about it.
I agree with your comments about drugs as far as if you’re on them and you hurt someone else. That would be terrible. I just disagree about how to prevent those kinds of things from happening.
I grew up in a family of alcoholics and have/had plenty of friends who drink/smoke a lot. I’ve seen plenty of lives destroyed by legal drugs (mainly alcohol and tobacco, but also legal pharmaceuticals). I think it would be easier to control the harm drugs do if they’re legal. Compare alcohol prohibition back in the days of the speak easy’s (poisonous bathtub gin) and the standardized booze you get now. Compare having to deal with the gangsters to going to a liquor store today. Etc. We have the exact same story with drugs today as we had with alcohol back then.
Besides the increased risk of personal harm from using the drugs, we get a HUGE increase of violence due only to the prohibition. Take into account the corruption of the system and I personally think we’d be WAY better off with legalized drugs, even if there was an increased amount of accidents.

True but most of the tests we use (pee in a cup) drugs tell you if a person has used in the last X days or so. With alcohol we can measure the level of intoxication through a breathaliver For a job site a failed breathalyzer means your drunk and get run off for drinking too close to shift time. A failed pee test means you used an illegal substance and get run off. If those drugs are legalized how do you differentiate between someone dangerous on the job site and someone who used a week ago? There is a disconnect between legalizing and making it safe for those around you.

I’m not sure how pissing in a cup that tells you a person used a substance possibly weeks ago says anything at all about whether they’re functional at the time of the test. How will that change if drugs are legalized? You still won’t have any idea if that person is able to do the job/drive or anything else.
I suggested years ago, when they 1st came up with the piss test, that if they were REALLY interested in on the job functionability, then they would give some kind of test of FUNCTIONABILITY. Something like a little video game or even like the roadside drunk test. It would actually measure something of a person ability to do their job, NOT what they might have done yesterday or weeks ago. A piss test is USELESS for telling anything about if a person is capable. It is just a major violation of the 4th and 5th amendments (and the fact that drugs are illegal at all is a major violation of the 9th and 10th amendments).
I think we concentrate WAY too much on trying to make everything perfectly 100% safe. That is impossible (no matter what the safety gurus may say) and I, for one, am NOT willing to trade my freedom away for ANY promise of safety. To me, that is not a life worth living.
